ITS International Office (IO) Essay Competition

Theme: “ITS Goes Global”

This contest is an event for ITS students and staffs to engage themselves in making ITS vision “Towards a world class university” becomes real. The contestants write their dreams, hopes, advice, critiques, and proposals for ITS on an English essay. This contest is held to raise the awareness of all ITS members about the importance of internationalization and to support achievement towards internationalization.

– Essays must: a) be original; b) be written in formal style; c) not contain racial, ethnicity, and religious issues; d) adhere to the contest’s theme;  e) not plagiarize other work; f) not be a translation of other work; g) not have been participated in other competitions; h) not have been previously published. Contestants must fill out and sign a declaration form with an IDR 6000 stamp.
– Essays must be written in English and formatted using Microsoft Word using Times New Roman 12 point font, 1.15 line spacing, and A4 paper size. The amount of words must be between 500-1000 words.

– ITS students (active students or not in leave period) and ITS staffs (PNS, CPNS, honorer, and outsourcing) from all departments and units are eligible for the contest.
– Contestants must proof their status by including a photocopy of the student ID (for students) and a covering letter from the head of departments or units (for staffs) using attached format.
– Contestants are individuals. Group participation is not allowed.
– One contestant can only submit one essay.
– Submitted essays must fulfill the requirements. Essays that do not fulfill the requirements will be disqualified and not be included in the judgment.

– Entries must be submitted electronically as an attachment to <> using subject “ITS Goes Global_[Mhs/Kary]_[Full Name]” by 13:00 western Indonesia standard time on Friday, 23 November 2012.
– The email attachment must contain an essay on Ms. Word format and supplementary documents: a registration form, a declaration form, and a photocopy of student ID (for students) or a covering letter (for staffs). The supplementary documents must be scanned and saved in PDF format.
– If contestants encounter difficulties on the online submissions, the entries can be submitted directly to the International Office in Rectorate building, 2nd floor.

Standards for Judging:
– All essays will be judged anonymously by a committee composed of various faculty members of ITS.

Copyright and Publication:
– By entering the contest, contestants grant permission to ITS to publish all or part of their essays in any forms.

Announcement of Results:
– Ten finalists consisting of five best essays from students and five best essays from staffs will be announced by 17:00, on Friday, 30 November 2012 on our website.
– Finalists must present their essays in front of the committee for 15 minutes at 15:00, on Monday, 3 December 2012 in Ruang Sidang Utama, Rectorate building, 1st floor.
– The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of CommTECH Highlight 2012 at 12:00, on Tuesday, 4 December 2012 in Ruang Sidang Utama, Rectorate building, 1st floor.

– Six winners consisting of three best essays from students and three best essays from staffs will receive certificates and inclusion in a study tour to Singapore. The committee will provide all transportation costs (a round-trip ticket, airport taxes, and local transportations), accomodation costs, meals, and tourism place visits. All registration fees for passports are not included (approx. IDR 250000 per person).
